Hooligans in Action

Correct me if I'm wrong.
Miguna Miguna during the launch of  his book "Peeling back the Mask"
Does it mean that Miguna's book is incriminatory true that some Kenyans are finding it hard to accept or is it that hooliganism  is extending from the post election violence to now? I believe that those who are vying for Miguna's blood are the same who started the chaos in 2008? I still stand to be corrected, but I have a feeling that if this goes on, Kenya might not be safe come next year. We shall have those who when defeated shall "Call for Mass Action" to "Protest" and allege "rigging".
A wise man once said "A leader who is not ready to be criticized is a Dictator"
Why is it that when Miguna Miguna is being roughed up its funny and no one is talking about it in a civilized manner...as a matter of fact, headlines are blown out of proportion.
I believe that Miguna is a Kenyan and enjoys citizenship just like any other. Miguna is a hero and a whistle blower and we should scrutinize his book rather than bashing him and pretending to know the contents of the book.
Are we the same breed of Kenyans who's opinions and intellect are held and dictated by individuals whom we adore and believe in, curtailing our capacity in decision making and right judgement.

Its about that time we castigate these events with the harshest words possible. Lets grow up, style up and face issues like true civilized Kenyans.

Hoax, selfishness and Social divide in Kirinyaga: We are living a lie!

Aparently, Robinson Githae, Minister for Finance has disclosed that the government had allocated Sh841 million to construct the Kutus-Kerugoya road, which is expected to start next month. I don't want to dispute but we should know that that road was in Daniel Karaba's "Agenda", later Gitari's "priority. For you who might not be aware, this Robinson Githae guy wants to run for Kirinyaga Governor. Elections are around the corner. This is just another political tactic to get him to power. For how long has the road been that way? Just thinking....I wonder for how long they will take us for fools.
Its not a coincidence that Kagio-Baricho-Kerugoya road is so nicely done and smooth to drive along. Githae's home is a few kilometres from Kagio, Ngata, Evan's Gicheru and the late Philip Ndegwa's homes are along the way. That's the road rfor the high and might from Kirinyaga but for for the Kirinyaga voters.

Thanks but not thank you...but our eyes are also open

Powerful and Unhelpful

It is from Kirinyaga that we have been able to produce well know and powerful men and women.

From the ages of Philip Ndegwa, Ngata Kariuki, the former Chief Justice Evans Gicheru, the Gichugu "Iron-Lady" Martha Karua, the current Minister for Finance Hon Njeru Githae....just to mention but a few.

However, some of these people are only seen or heard in the media and when elections are near to scavenge for votes. What they do for the people is a mystery.

Take an example. Kerugoya is the district's headquarter. The main road leading to the town- Kerugoya-Kutus road is a nightmare. Literally, NI SHAMBA. With potholes everywhere, the drivers have turned the foot paths into road since its better than the actual road. This starts from Kutus junction to Kerugoya town.

With this, I pick up a fight with my learned friend, Hon Joseph Gitari. Apparently, during his campaign to "overthrow" Ngata Kariuki during the byelection, that road was top on his agenda. He literally campaigned on that road criticizing "bad leadership" which never saw such a mess. On the day he was elected, had had merry with the boda boda operators at the Roswam Hotel. That was all. The last time I remembered that we had an MP was during Michuki's funeral. At least the speaker recognized him among other "Honorable Members of the House"

I happened to board a boda and started a conversation with the operator who was happy to bring to my attention that he had promised them(operators) that he was to issue them with licenses. Never mind that boda boda operators in Kenya have never been to a driving school hence none of them qualifies for a license....then you ask why so many accidents. I found the latter not so interesting to my rider...lets call him Kago* so i decided to ask him his opinion towards the issue. He was very positive...and I was too...until we hit a pothole and asked him if he had ever had a puncture or broken rim out of the potholes.

"Many times", replied Kago.

"So", I asked, "do you really need a license worth Ksh 5000 which you can make within days or better roads?"

The situation is no better in the neighbouring Ndia. From Kagumo to Karatina the road is an example of forgotten or  abandoned responsibility.

I strongly believe that his is just a tip of the iceberg. Deep inside the issues are maybe worse or better deppending on how you view them or where you come from or even have visited.

Lets give credit to what has been done and strip off the dirt where it has been smeared.
Welcome to Kirinyaga County. Did you know that Kirinyaga County is(or should) be the richest county in Kenya.
Come to think of it.
We produce almost everything that this country depends on. If my research is not bad, Kirinyaga, more-so Central produces the best tea in the country. Don't be cheated that Kericho does. Kericho produces most but not BEST.
With one of the best and most successful irrigation scheme, Mwea (Kirinyaga South) produces the best rice that all Kenyan identify with, enjoy and are proud of. Mwea Pishori.
Of all the places I have been able to visit in and out of the country, the thing I have been so much proud of is the fact that majority of the residents have learnt to be self reliant and fight poverty and government dependency on many area. From community based Hydro-electric Power supply by the villagers for the Villagers projects, water supply to most of the families and other community-based amenities.

Sagana is the only place with fisheries research institute in the country. And now With the advent of the Economic Stimulus Program (ESP) we supply fish fingerings to the nation.

With this and more, Why is Kirinyaga poor and under-developed?
Who is standing on the window watching the county burn?
Who is to revolutionize the old Kirinyaga and bring bright future to the locals?
Do we elect the right people to govern us?
What are our strengths and opportunities?
Have we abandoned agriculture or have we been lied into forgetting our roots?
Who is to blame? Us or the political class?

I believe we have alot to comment and share; critique and inspire.

Lets discuss this and more to put our county in the limelight and compete with the rest of the country

THIS IS OUR BLOG.

Opinions are welcome.
